Roller Derby

Roller Derby Exposition - New

Friday, August 29, 2008 at 3:30 pm in the Pavilion! Roller derby is a game of controlled power, quick wit and bursts of speed. Points are scored by two jammers who race each other around the track. Each jammer has four blockers who are trying to help her and four blockers who are trying to knock her down (or at the very least hold her back).

Throughout each period of game play (called a "jam), blockers use their bodies to aggressively clear paths in the "pack" for their jammer while preventing their opponent from scoring. Jammers score points by legally passing members of the opposing team. Both blockers and jammers must comply with strict regulations dictating how and when they can make contact with other skaters, intensifying the skill level of this fast paced, nail biting sport!
