Blues, Brews & BBQ!

August 28 - 30 - North end of the Picnic Grove

Blues, Brews & BBQ is being featured at the 2009 Oregon State Fair from Friday, August 28, through Sunday, August 30, in the Picnic Grove near the Spirit of Oregon Stage.  Taste Oregon craft beers, professional BBQ and enjoy great blues music each evening.  Great Oregon blues acts such as Ty Curtis, Curtis Salgado and Linda Hornbuckle will perform!

Oregon brewers will be on hand each Friday, Saturday and Sunday the first weekend of Fair for you to taste and test new Oregon craft beers.  Also, inside the tasting tent, you'll enjoy great professional BBQ meats of Painted Hills Natural Beef, Foster Farm Chicken, Salmon by Pacific Seafood and professionally prepared by the Pacific NW BBQ Association members.

Hours of tasting tent will be from 5 pm to 10 pm.  The tasting tent requires a small fee to enter and participate in tasting.

Adult Beverage Areas - Walk Around Beer

Great microbrews, good food and big fun are on tap at the Oregon State Fair.  Look for beer and beverage stands throughout the fairgrounds, be ready to show ID, recieve your wristband and enjoy walk-around beer and wine at the Oregon State Fair.  You can also enjoy adult beverages at many of the beer gardens on grounds. 

The 3rd Annual "Pacific NW Best BBQ Competition"

August 28 – 30 - North end of the Picnic Grove

On Friday, August 28, 2009, more than 35 professional cooking teams will take over the North end of the Picnic Grove at the Oregon State Fairgrounds.  Teams will battle for three days and three nights during the 2009 Oregon State Fair for Big prize money!

Wine Patio and Wine Tasting

2009 is a very good year—for wine tasting! Retreat to the Wine Patio and Garden daily from noon to 9pm and savor award-winning Oregon wines, offered by taste, glass or wine flights. Oregon cheeses and other palate-cleansing nibbles provide the perfect complement. Bottoms up!

Foster Farm's Big Cluck Grill-Off

Watch as cooking teams from county fairs battle for statewide bragging rights and great prizes on Saturday August 29, 10am to 4pm. Cooking teams will heat things up on the north end of the Floral Garden as they compete for big Traeger Texas BBQ Wood Pellet Grill and $100 certificate for free Foster Farms Chicken. Just beyond the grilling competition area, visitors will enjoy wine patio with live entertainment in the floral garden.

Special thanks goes to the Foster Farms and Traeger Grills for their generous support and help in supportingi the grilling events. Foster Farms is providing all participating counties and the State Fair with great Oregon chicken for grilling and all categories of prizes, including a Traeger Wood Pellet Grill, at every participating county fair!

2nd Annual Painted Hills Backyard BBQ Contest

County Fair to State Fair Competition - Sunday, August 30, 2009 near the Floral Garden

The Oregon State Fair is proud to announce the 2nd annual Painted Hills Natural Beef Grilling Contest. Painted Hills Natural Beef will sponsor this fun and exciting competition to begin at participating county fairs and culminate to state fair competition on Sunday, August 30, near the Floral Garden.

Grilling teams will be provided with Painted Hills Natural Beef for grilling, team gifts, great prizes at all participating county fairs and the Oregon State Fair!

Mr. BBQ of KXL Radio will be on-hand at many of the competitions to provide grilling demonstrations just prior to the competitions.

Advancing to State Fair - Each county fair’s winning entry will automatically qualify for the Oregon State Fair Championship. The County Fairs second winning entry will be the alternative contestant. Entries received on a first come, first served basis. See official Rules and Guidelines under Competitions for more information and how to enter!
