4-H and FFA
Check out the best of horticulture, floral, agriculture, landscaping and farm and garden displays and exhibits from Oregon’s cream of the crop – a.k.a. our kids.
Livestock Show - FFA and 4-H members will show their hogs, sheep or steers to this annual event. Drop by and ask questions about the animals and learn about caring for farm animals. Each student will work hard and spend hours grooming their animals for blue ribbon honors.
FFA Exhibits - Located near the Dairy Women’s Ice-cream booth, FFA exhibits include Ag Mechanics, Nursery, Landscape, and Wool Displays. Drop by their office location and ask questions of FFA Chapter Officers and Members on hand daily.
4-H Exhibits - Located in the 4-H Auditorium on the north end of the Fairgrounds, hundreds of 4-H members entries will be on display! See the 4-H Fashion Review Show, cooking demonstrations and special interactive Lego Robotics demonstrations. Come and try your hand at programming a robot, participate in GPS Treasure hunts and experience more fun learning opportunities!
FFA Livestock Exhibits - The FFA livestock exhibits are here August 22nd–25th , 2008. These exhibits include cattle, sheep, swine, and goat exhibits as well as shows. The exhibits are housed in the 4-H/FFA barn. Please visit the Oregon FFA website for a detailed schedule of all of the FFA activities. Fine Arts and Calligraphy
You will be able to learn, watch and ask questions while Artists in Action provide demonstrations in acrylic, oil, pencil, watercolor, stippling and more. You may even try it yourself with the free materials provided!
Fine Arts
The exhibits showcase artwork from professional, amateur, student, and youth artists. See the award winners selected by the jurors and make sure you vote for your favorite entry. The entries with the most votes from Fair patrons will win the People’s Choice award. Also, see artwork that was selected as the Best at their County Fair.
Calligraphy
Calligraphers from Oregon calligraphy guilds will also demonstrate their art form and provide samples of your name in calligraphic lettering.
Donations are always welcome. The donations are used to provide scholarships to high-school calligraphy students to attend the Oregon Calligraphy Conference and for grants for calligraphy instructors to purchase materials for their students.
Floral and Hart of the Garden
Relax and Enjoy… The Hart of the Garden Building & Garden District - August 28 – September 7. View cut flower displays while you sip and savor tastes of award winning wines from Oregon wineries in the Wine Cellar and Tasting Bar, presented from 11 am to 9 pm each day in the Hart of the Garden Building.
(Note the garden will be closed Friday August 28, 2009 from 5 to 8 pm for the Wine Celebration & Awards. Purchase your tickets now for this private charity event www.ticketswest.com).
Retreat to the lush garden and enjoy an ever-changing list of well-chosen Oregon wines, offered by taste, glass and wine flights on the Wine Patio. At the Bocce ball court, learn how to play from our team of experts, and enjoy live entertainment each evening on the Wine Patio for your enjoyment!
American Garden Award has selected Oregon State Fair's Hart of the Garden to be one of 17 destinations invited to participate in the 2009 United States competition enabling you to vote for your favorite flower. Come to the Oregon State Fair and visit the Hart of the Garden to see the completion and vote for the flower that appeals to you. Visit www.americangardenaward.org for more information on voting.

Garden District
More than 8,000 annuals and perennials, and over 150 different plants from around the world will be on display in the Hart of the Garden. Vote for your favorite new plant varieties. 4-H Horticulture and Floral Exhibits will also be on display in the garden. Visit the Hart of the Garden Information Booth and meet Doug Hart of Hart’s Nursery and his staff of gardening experts. Learn about the plants in the Heritage Vegetable Garden and learn how to grow the best plants and flowers in Oregon’s climate. On the North end of the garden you will find Davidson's Landscaping. Jim Davidson has created a water feature and landscaping for the Oregon State Fair to appreciate and enjoy year round.

On the South end of the garden you will find our large pond, maintenance by Big Boy Waterfalls & Koi Pond. It is a very beautiful area that you can not miss!

Paver paths in the Hart of the Garden have been created and supplied by Western Interlock of Rickreall Oregon. This year, Western Interlock will be creating a pervious paver path in the Northwest corner of our gardens, near Artisan's Village. You can visit Western Interlock at their commercial exhibitors booth throughout all 11 days of the Fair.

Greenworks Living Green Tour at the 2009 Oregon State Fair
Greenworks by Clorox will have their exhibit of their new biodegradable, natural cleaning products in our outdoor Sustainable Energy area. Greenworks will be providing information about their products, sampling, and free give a ways.

Austin Family Business Photo Contest
Join us August 28, 2009 from 10am - 4pm as the Austin Family Busines Program celebrates local family businesses with their annual Family Photo Contest.

Fair patrons are encouraged to stop by the Austin Family Business booth located on the main concourse near the Natural Resource area to vote for their favorite photograph for the People's Choice Award on August 28, 2009. The Grand prize photograph will be selected by a panel of celebrity judges.
While you are at the Austin Family Business booth, be sure to enter to win a free gift basket!

Home Arts & Hobbies
We invite you to stop by and view the various Home Arts and Hobbies submitted for both competition and display at the 2009 Oregon State Fair in the Jackman-Long Building. The competition and display categories in Home Arts range from baking to quilting, and from cake decorating to textiles. Categories in Hobbies range from beading to woodworking. With all of these categories, you are sure to find something to interest you.
Natural Resources
Oregon 150
Oregon 150th Big Birthday Bash kicks-off Friday, August 28th in the afternoon (3 pm) with the Governor and other special guests at the Fair to unveil the new Fair icon, designate the Oregon State Fair the first Oregon Heritage Event. That same evening is the Oregon/Oregon play and Pink Martini....and a great BIG laser light show in the Sports & Rec area to end the evening's celebration!
Children are invited to gather to sing Happy Birthday to Oregon at 3 p.m. near the center of grounds.

The 2008 Oregon State Fair will host a select group of commissions representing a variety of Oregon products. Be sure to stop by the Commodity Exhibits located in the Jackman-Long Building.
Oregon Counties
Displays and Exhibits
Inside the Jackman-Long Building, representatives from a number of Oregon Counties will be on hand to answer questions and provide information. Counties represented include:
- Benton County
- Curry County
- Grant County
- Hood River County
- Tillamook County
- Umatilla County
- Yamhill County
- Wallowa County

Outdoor Kitchen World Display and Cooking Demonstrations on the Patio
Join us each day in the beautiful “Hart of the Garden” on the patio for a fabulous outdoor kitchen display by Outdoor Kitchen World. Local Oregon chefs will be on site to prepare and demonstrate a fun menu of various cuisines from elegant to easy. Saturday August 29th 2009. KPAM RADIO will be on site for a live radio broadcast during their morning home show.
Join in on the fun….prizes, entertainment, and food! You may even be the lucky audience member to win VIP access, where you will get to sit up front at the kitchen counter to watch the demonstrations…..and yes the lucky VIP’s will get to taste test!

Pendleton Woolen Mills
This year the Oregon State Fair welcomes Pendleton Woolen Mills to the Americraft Center. Pendleton will have a wonderful display to not only promote their products but to promote all of Umatilla County and everything they have to offer. Celebrate with us Pendleton's 100th Birthday! Their display will include 100 blankets; a Pendleton blanket representing each year they have been in business.
Included in the Umatilla exhibit will be representative from Milton Freewater, Hermiston, Pilot Rock and the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce as well as Umatilla Economic Development, The Confederated Tribes of Umatilla, The Pendleton Round up, and the Wheat Growers League.
Don’t miss this extraordinary exhibit throughout Fair. Pendleton will have several different items for sale to Fair patrons.

Be sure to stop by the photography exhibits located in Cascade Hall, which is directly north of the L.B. Day Amphitheatre. Check out amazing photographs from Oregon’s wonderful scenery and view works by artists from around the world!
The Oregon State Fair’s 2009 photography competitions include: the International Exhibition of Photography, the Oregon Salon of Photography, and the Student and Youth categories. Additionally, a "Best of County Fair Photography Exhibit" will feature samples of award-winning prints from County Fair competition.

Veteran’s Displays and Exhibits

Tribute to Veterans
Including a Recreated Bob Hope 60s USO Show - Performers scheduled to appear are Oregon's own The Brown Sisters, The Two Sisters Trio, Pastor Richard Probasco, Dennis Marcellino of The Tokens and Sly & The Family Stone, and The Dennis Mitchell Band with The Kingsmen (of *Louie, Louie* fame). At the end of the performances, there will be recognition of all Veterans in the audience. This is an emotional experience not to be missed. The show starts at 1:00 p.m. at the Comcast Stage. This event is sponsored by Spirit Mountain Casino and the Oregon State Fair, and hosted by Remembering America's Heroes, a non-profit organization based in Milwaukie, Oregon.
Parade
The 2nd annual Veterans Appreciation Parade features the Grand Ronde Tribe Honor Guard, the Oregon Patriot Guard Motorcycle Riders, the Oregon Motorcycle Veterans Association, and the Oregon Historical Military Society with their vehicles. Veterans are invited to walk in the parade, which is approximately 1/2 mile in length. The parade starts at 12:30 p.m. Please report to the yellow gate at least 15 minutes before the parade starts.
