Artisan's Village Additional Information
| Sponsored by the Friends of the Visual Arts and Chemeketa Community College
Art organizations and individual artisans will return to the Oregon State Fair, August 22nd through September 1st, in the courtyard location near the floral gardens. For details see: Demonstration Focus |
![]() |
The purpose of the Artisans Village is for Artist to demonstrate making of art and crafts to promote the understanding of traditional and contemporary arts while providing a positive and educational atmosphere for fair patrons. Artisans Village is not to focus on sales, but rather the making and understanding of art and crafts. Artists must have a demonstration area that is easily visible by fair patrons.
Fund-raising for Art Groups
Non-profit art groups are invited to provide hands-on art or craft making for fair patrons. Fair patrons must be able to keep their art or craft. Art Groups may be approved to charge a small fee to fair patrons. The Oregon State Fair staff must approve all fees charged.
Show Information and Hours of Operation
Artisans will be provided with 24-hour security in the event area. Electricity, entrance passes, parking and general decorating will also be provided. Fair dates are Friday August 22nd through Monday September 1st. Move and set-up is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20th and Thursday, August 21st. Artisan’s “demonstration” is an integral part of the artist’s responsibility to the show. All artists and art groups will staff their booths during the hours of 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays (Sunday-Thursday). Some short-term artists may be scheduled if space allows but must be able to staff their booth during set hours.
Booth and Area Design
Booth design is an integral part of the Oregon Artisan’s Village. Permanent booths are available inside the Artisan Village as indicated on the map. Artists may also have a non-permanent canopy style booth in the middle grassy area. Tents and canopy style booths must be rented from the Oregon State Fair’s contracted vendor Interstate Rentals (503) 285-6685. Booths owned by artists may be used if they are a canopy pop-up style or an originally designed booth that meets the requirements set by the Oregon State Fire Marshall. Oregon State Fair Staff must approve booths other than pop-up style prior to fair.
