Recycling and Composting
The Oregon State Fair is committed to taking steps towards zero waste. We are taking our recycling to the next step with recycle centers throughout the grounds. These centers will help the fair goes to understand what is trash and what can be made into compost. The Oregon State Fair is now an EarthWise facility. Last year, over 22.16 tons of compost, 8.01 tons of recyclables 24.00 tons of cardboard, 1000 gallons of grease, 0.43 tons of plastic was recycled. In 2010, the Oregon State Fair is once again partnering with Garten Service Inc. in an effort to combine our resources and to ultimately increase the quantity of recyclable material and to promote recycling throughout the fairgrounds.
The 2010 Oregon State Fair will once again feature recycling and sorting station located just south of the famous Horse Show Stadium. There, recyclable items will be sorted and prepared for transportation off grounds. Be sure to stop by and see recycling in action and learn how you can make a difference.
With each passing year, the Oregon State Fair is looking to improve in all areas of sustainability. From renewable power utilization, conservation, and energy efficiencies at the state fairgrounds to the education and zero waste recycling efforts, the Oregon State Fair is committed to lead by example.
