See the bounty of Oregon’s best at the State Fair’s displays and exhibits. From floral displays to fine art (and nearly everything in between), these exhibits offer hands-on demonstrations, artist presentations, educational seminars and, of course, plenty of eye candy.
Check out the best of horticulture, floral, agriculture, landscaping and farm and garden displays and exhibits from Oregon’s cream of the crop – a.k.a. our kids.

Livestock Show - FFA and 4-H members will show their hogs, sheep or steers to this annual event. Drop by and ask questions about the animals and learn about caring for farm animals. Each student will work hard and spend hours grooming their animals for blue ribbon honors.

FFA Exhibits - Located near the Dairy Women’s Ice-cream booth, FFA exhibits include Ag Mechanics, Nursery, Landscape, and Wool Displays. Drop by their office location and ask questions of FFA Chapter Officers and Members on hand daily.

4-H Exhibits - Located in the 4-H Auditorium on the north end of the Fairgrounds, hundreds of 4-H members entries will be on display! See the 4-H Fashion Review Show, cooking demonstrations and special interactive Lego Robotics demonstrations. Come and try your hand at programming a robot, participate in GPS Treasure hunts and experience more fun learning opportunities!

FFA Livestock Exhibits - The FFA livestock exhibits are here August 22nd–25th , 2008. These exhibits include cattle, sheep, swine, and goat exhibits as well as shows. The exhibits are housed in the 4-H/FFA barn. Please visit the Oregon FFA website for a detailed schedule of all of the FFA activities. 4-H Livestock Exhibits - The 4-H livestock exhibits are here August 26th-31st, 2008. These exhibits include cattle, sheep, swine and goat exhibits as well as shows. Artisan's Village

Come see artisans create traditional and contemporary art of all kinds. The Artisan’s Village is located in the Courtyard near the floral gardens.
Farm and Garden

Farm, Garden & Floral

Be sure to stop by and view the Farm & Garden displays in the Jackman-Long Building. The Farm & Garden exhibits will showcase various displays and winning entries in: fruits, vegetables, grains, grasses, herbs, bees and honey. From seeds to agricultural arrangements, there’s something for everyone to see.

If you have a passion for fine arts, you don't want to miss the opportunity to view artwork from Oregon's finest artists. The fine arts gallery of exhibits is located in the Eastside Gallery of the Jackman-Long Building, and don’t forget to visit our new demonstration area located outside the East doors of the gallery.

You will be able to learn, watch and ask questions while Artists in Action provide demonstrations in acrylic, oil, pencil, watercolor, stippling and more. You may even try it yourself with the free materials provided!

Fine Arts

The exhibits showcase artwork from professional, amateur, student, and youth artists. See the award winners selected by the jurors and make sure you vote for your favorite entry. The entries with the most votes from Fair patrons will win the People’s Choice award. Also, see artwork that was selected as the Best at their County Fair.


Calligraphy

Calligraphers from Oregon calligraphy guilds will also demonstrate their art form and provide samples of your name in calligraphic lettering.

Donations are always welcome. The donations are used to provide scholarships to high-school calligraphy students to attend the Oregon Calligraphy Conference and for grants for calligraphy instructors to purchase materials for their students.

Home Arts & Hobbies

We invite you to stop by and view the various Home Arts and Hobbies submitted for both competition and display at the 2008 Oregon State Fair in the Jackman-Long Building. The competition and display categories in Home Arts range from baking to quilting, and from cake decorating to textiles. Categories in Hobbies range from beading to woodworking. With all of these categories, you are sure to find something to interest you.

All winning entries are on display everyday at the Oregon State Fair! Also, be sure to check out the daily demonstrations and on stage programs where you will see chef’s cooking demonstrations, various how-to’s and more. Keith Brown Indoor Kitchen Display

Located in the Jackman-Long Building you will find a fabulous indoor kitchen donated to the Oregon State Fair by Keith Brown Lumber, who is celebrating their 80th anniversary. Join us in the kitchen daily, as we will have local area Chef’s prepare a daily cuisine for demonstration.

2 lucky audience members will be chosen to sit at the kitchen counter for a closer look at the demonstration….and yes the lucky members chosen will get to taste test!

Relax and enjoy a wonderful sample of Evergreen Vineyard’s Spruce Goose Semi-Sparkling Oregon Pinot Noir Grape Juice. This juice is 100% natural Pinot Noir with no additives. It is naturally sweet for a delicious alternative to wine. You can find samples of the juice at both the indoor kitchen display in the Jackman-Long Building, and the outdoor kitchen display in the Hart of the Garden.

Natural Resources

Discover Oregon’s nature, beauty, and history at our Natural Resources Stage. Children will love to meet Wally, the 12-foot-long baby whale puppet, who explains how to spot whales along the Oregon coast. Explore the world of the beaver, learn to hoot like an owl, or feel real pelts and skulls of Oregon’s mysterious animals. Oregon 150
Oregon 150 kick-off has been scheduled for Friday, August 22nd in the afternoon (2 pm) with the Governor at the Fair to unveil the new Pendleton 150 Blanket, announce the celebration in 2008 at next year's Fair, and more.

Oregon Author's Table

The Oregon Author’s table is a State Fair tradition. Authors have been meeting and offering signed copies of their books for sale at the Oregon State Fair for over 30 years. Enjoy the opportunity to meet with and speak to your favorite Author. The Author’s table is located in the Jackman-Long Building.
Oregon Commodities

Oregon Commodities

What would we do without our Oregon products? Oregon commodities are a staple of life and a vital part of Oregon’s economy. From the Albacore Commission to the Wheat Commission, there are a total of 26 Oregon commodity commissions.

The 2008 Oregon State Fair will host a select group of commissions representing a variety of Oregon products. Be sure to stop by the Commodity Exhibits located in the Jackman-Long Building.

Oregon County

Oregon Counties

Be sure to stop by the county booth exhibits and discover what Oregon counties have to offer. Oregon is a vast state and each county provides its’ own sense of uniqueness while adding to the character and economy that makes up Oregon. The 2008 Oregon State Fair will feature several counties on display in the Jackman-Long Building. Come see Oregon county pride first-hand.

Displays and Exhibits

Inside the Jackman-Long Building, representatives from a number of Oregon Counties will be on hand to answer questions and provide information. Counties represented include:

  • Curry County
  • Grant County
  • Hood River County
  • Tillamook County
  • Umatilla County
  • Yamhill County
  • Wallowa County

Toyota Mobile Hybrid Experience

Toyota Mobile Hybrid Experience

Friday August 22 through Sunday August 24, 2008 the Oregon State Fair welcomes the Toyota Mobile Hybrid Experience to the Sustainable Energy area. Walk up and enter into an experience to remember, with this awesome display of the hybrid technology. Toyota will be hosting test drives of their hybrids, as well as other hands-on activities.

Sales personnel and a product specialist will be on hand to demonstrate and answer any questions you may have.

Veteran’s Displays and Exhibits

Traditional Veteran displays will be in showcased in the Americraft Center/Jackman-Long Building. In addition the Oregon State Fair will provide special activities during closing day including a USO Style Show beginning on the BiMart Center Stage at 1:30 PM on September 6, 2010.

Tribute to Veterans

The "Stars of USO Show" recreates one of USO Shows greatest moments when Marilyn Monroe (1954) The Andrews Sisters (1941-1945 USO radio shows) and Elvis (1958-1960) all took the stage and entertained the troops. Additionally USO Sweetheart ( 1966) " Ann Margaret" will Emcee the event and keep all the " soldiers" on the edge of their seat.
