Homebrew Competition

How does your homebrew beer stack-up against the competition?  From ales to a variety of specialty beers, this annual competition attracts home brewers throughout Oregon.  Statewide bragging rights are at stake.

2009 Homebrew Beer Results

Stay tuned for the 2010 Homebrew Competition. By overwhelming demand, the awards presentation will be held during the first Saturday of fair instead of the second Saturday.

The Oregon State Fair Home Brew competition sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) and by the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP). The entry deadline is Wednesday August 5, 2009

Join us on Awards Day, Saturday September 5, 2009 near the Backyard Grill & Microbrew Pad.

1pm to 5pm - Oregon Homebrewers Brew Demonstraton from Charley Renn 

4pm  - Awards will be presented during the brew demonstration by special guest speaker Brian Butenschoen from the Oregon Brewers Guild

Amateur Wine Competition

A panel of five professional and seven amatuer judges will taste, score and award Blue, Red and White Ribbons within each classification and bronze, silver and gold medals to the top Oregon winemakers  These award winning wines will be recognized during Celebratiton Oregon!, the Oregon State Fair's signature wine tasting event, Friday, August 28, 2009, held in the beautiful Hart of the Garden.  Tickets ($45) for Celebration Oregon! are available at www.ticketswest.com.

Amateur Wine judging will be held on July 8 and 9, 2009.  Selected from the Blue Ribbon Award winners, one wine from theViniferia and Fruit/Berry categories will be presented Amateur Best of Show at Celebration Oregon!. Entry forms and fees are due to the Oregon State Fair by June 2009. Winemakers reception July 16th, time/location TBA (participanting winemakers).

Professional Wine Competition

New for 2009!

Professional wineries from all over Oregon will be excited to learn about a NEW Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals will be announced on Monday, August 3rd!  Best of Show, Best of Red and Best of White will be announced at Celebration Oregon!

  • Entry forms and fees are due to Oregon State Fair no later June 2009.
  • Professional Wine judging will be held on July 15 and 16, 2009
  • 3 or above wine entries - $40.00 entry fee for each wine entered, 1-2 wine entries - $50.00 entry fee for each wine
