2009 information now available
The Bud Forster Livestock Pavilion and the Beef Barn will once again host one the State Fair’s most popular patron attractions: the animals. The show also provides a great marketing and networking opportunity for our show exhibitors and gives them a chance to educate Fair patrons about the animal agricultural industry.
If you are interested in entering your livestock or for a complete livestock show schedule, see the information below.
Mutton Bustin’ Competition
Children have fun holding onto a sheep and trying to last 6 seconds! Mutton Bustin' is similar to what adults do when bull riding. Contestants ages 6 years and younger and less than 60 lbs. attempt to last six seconds on a sheep in a control and safe environment.
Qualifying rounds lead up to the championship performances. Sheep are released from a chute, just like with bull riding, and take the rider to the other side of the arena. It can be tough to hold on to the sheep!
Located near the livestock show ring, this is a great crowd pleasing show! Come and cheer them on! Prizes and ribbons awarded to placing riders.
Show times posted at the event entrance and will be determined by the number of contestants entered in each round. Cost to compete is $5 per ride.
