Look-a-Like Contests
Announcing 2008 Oregon State Fair Look-A-Like Contests Weird Al and Willie Nelson. KEX is holding the contest for Weird Al Yankovic and KUPL is holding the contest for Willie Nelson. Details on their respective websites.

First Place winner: Norman Wirth of Portland Oregon (pictured)
1st Runner up: Ellen Maiden of Portland Oregon
2nd Runner up: Joseph Duquesnay of Tigard Oregon
Send in your best look-a-like picture to the radio station's website and the top ten in each contest will be highlighted at the Oregon State Fair for the first place prize: two front row tickets to the corresponding concert.
Contestants will face the finals on the day of each concert at 6:00pm on Comcast Center Stage. Contest winners chosen as the crowd favorite. Invite your family, friends and neighbors to cheer you on!

Children's Old Time Butter Making Contest
Thursday, August 28, 2008 4:00pm - Oregon State Fair will provide the ingredients; you shake the cream into butter and sample it on crackers. Yummy, yummy, come and enjoy the fun! Open to ages 5-8 and 9-12. First 15 children in each age group to sign up will receive a prize.
15th Annual Hermiston Watermelon All State Seed Spitting Contest
Saturday, August 23rd at 5 pm - Spit your way to fame by entering the Hermiston Watermelon Growers' watermelon seed spitting contest. Try out your best seed spittin' form with a seed from a plump, sweet and juicy Hermiston Watermelon. Divisons are Men's, Women's and Youth (8-15 years). Sponsored by the Hermiston Watermelon Growers.
The Home Depot's Tool Savvy Contest
Saturday August 23, 2008 4:00pm - Join us at the demonstration stage area for a good time with Byron Names, the representative from Home Depot who will amaze you with his vast knowledge of some tricks of the trade. Play "Name That Tool" and see who can measure the farthest before the tape bends- the longest measurement wins!

Balance a Potato on your Head Contest
Sunday August 24, 2008 5:00pm - Balance a potato on your head and be the first to reach a designated area. Oregon State Fair provides the potato. Heats shall be run if there are enough contestants. Categories: ages 6 and under; ages 7 to 11; ages 12 to 17; and 18 and over.
13th Annual Old Fashioned Corn Shucking Contest
Wednesday, August 27 at 5:00pm - An Oregon’s Best Contest - Sponsored by Santiam and NORPAC Foods, Inc and open to everyone. In the divisions men, women and youth (up to age 15), contestants will compete for the most ears of corn shucked before the music stops! After all the division winners have been named, there will be a Grand Champion Shuck-Off!
Kid’s Dress a Fruit or Veggie Contest
Thursday August 28, 2008 11am-3pm - Bring a fruit or vegetable that is dressed for "Only in Oregon." Categories: ages 6 and under; ages 7-12; and 13-17. Free Admission to the Fair with each entry. Prizes awarded in each category. Entries will become property of the Oregon State Fair. Bring your exhibit to the contest entry booth at the north end of the Jackman-Long Building.
Lowes's Make it with Duct Tape Contest
Monday August 25, 2008 1:30pm - Ingenuity is put to the test in this contest with creating an original work made of at least 80% duct tape. The contest is for Adults and for Adult/Child teams (an adult and one child may work together on a project) Adult/Child teams will be judged the same as the (individual) adult entrants. Entrants must register before the contest and drop off their entry at the Contest Entry Intake Table with a receipt showing the duct tape was purchased from Lowes's store (please circle the duct tape purchase).

The Craft Warehouse Creative Critter Contest for Kids
Wednesday August 27, 2008 4 p.m. - Crafting fun for the beginner, or experienced kid crafter. Join us for a fun contest and the opportunity to take home your very own creation! Entrants must pre-register on the day of the contest in order to compete. Registrations will be taken at the Contest Registration Table and are limited to the first 25 people in each division. Contestants will be given materials from which they will have an allotted amount of time to create their critter. One child on each entry. There will be 3 divisions: Ages 10-13, 6-9, 5 and under.

The Craft Warehouse Creative Card-Making Contest
Thursday, August 28, 2008 11:30am - Show off your creative genius or try your hand for the first time in this crafty contest; either way, you'll have tons of fun and come away with your own masterpiece! Register the day of the contest and receive the materials to create your card. There will be two divisions: Children Ages 6-13 and Adults 14 and older.

5th Annual Trash to treasure Contest
Thursday, August 28, 2008 2:00pm - Sponsored by the Statesman Journal; bring your very best treasure made from used materials, free admission to the Fair for the entrant on this day! Awards will be given to the winners in the following categories: Most Original, Most Artistic and Most Functional. Must be at least 16 years old to enter, one entry per person.

The Craft Warehouse Fabulous Red Hat and Fancy Hat Adorn Contest
Thursday, August 26, 2008 2:00pm - This is it ladies! This is the contest to show your saucy side and come away with a beautifully decorated BY YOU, and definitely one-of-a-kind, RED HAT. Hurry and sign-up at 1pm because supplies and hats are limited so entry is restricted to the first 25 individuals or teams who sign up.
