Jackman-Long Building Displays
The Jackman-Long Building houses Home Arts & Hobbies and Farm & Garden exhibits, which include preserved and baked foods, textiles, crafts, collectibles, vegetables, fruit, bees and honey—and more! You’ll find hands-on demonstrations each day ranging from cake decorating to fly tying. This building is also home to military veteran displays and the Oregon Author’s Table.
Eastside Gallery
In Jackman-Long Building’s Eastside Gallery, see fine art exhibits by both amateur and professional artists. Be sure to vote for your favorite entry! Entries with the most votes will win the People’s Choice Award.
Watch demonstrations in acrylic, oil, pencil, watercolor, and stippling by members of Artists in Action, or try it yourself with the free materials provided. For a complete Artists in Action demonstration schedule, click here.
Calligraphers from Oregon calligraphy guilds will also demonstrate their art form and letter names. Donations are welcome. Donations are used to provide scholarships to high-school calligraphy students to attend the Oregon Calligraphy Conference and for grants for calligraphy instructors to purchase materials for their students.
Don’t miss the free drawings held each evening at 6:00! Enter to win a piece of handmade art by an Oregon artist. Entry forms will be available in the Artisan Village Courtyard and the Eastside Art Gallery, located in the Jackman-Long Building.
Photography Exhibit
Photography exhibits are located in Cascade Hall, which is directly north of the L.B. Day Amphitheatre. Here you’ll see photographs from Oregon and around the world. There are also invitational exhibits, a Best of County Fair display, and winning photographs from the Oregon Parks Department’s first ever calendar photo contest. Vote for your favorite and it could win the People’s Choice award!
Historic Poultry Building
During the first half of the Fair (August 24 – 28), you’ll find the Poultry Building full of poultry and pigeons. Once judging is completed, many of these award-winning birds will be for sale.
After five days, the poultry and pigeons have had enough! So they move out, and rabbits and cavies move in from August 29 – September 3. It’s fun and educational to see different varieties of every shape and size!
Every day at the Fair, you’ll find a live chick-hatching display, and during the Fair’s opening weekend, the USDA shows kids and adults how to “candle” eggs to test their quality.
